Book Announcement and Writing Week in Review: 11/25-12/2

Once, Alex Gardinier was a successful physical therapist and a happy wife. Now she is trapped in a crumbling hospital room. Seven years ago Alex’s ex-husband, Nathan, was convicted of murdering five girls, and he has been rotting in prison ever since. Except the doctors say that Nathan isn’t in prison. In fact, they don’t believe that he is a criminal at all. According to them, Nathan is a devoted husband who visits her every week. But Alex can’t recall ever seeing him at the hospital, and the last time they met he was holding her hostage on a boat.

Maybe the doctors are right – maybe these memories of his crimes are her own personal delusions – but if they are wrong, then Nathan somehow escaped from prison. If they are wrong, he has trapped Alex in a psychiatric ward.

If they are wrong, he is hunting her sister.

Even those of you who regularly read my Writing Week in Reviews may have found the first few paragraphs of this post surprising.

I want to share an exciting bit of news; I’ll be publishing my current novel experiment, When We Go Missing, later this month. Because I’ve been planning on self-publishing at what is, for me, an accelerated pace, I’ve been a bit hesitant to nail down the schedule. However, one of my fellow writers (shout out to Melanie Noell Bernard) reminded me that I need to commit sometime, so today I’m making this official.

My psychological thriller, When We Go Missing, will be released on December 16, 2016 via Amazon.

To welcome it into the world, I’ve also set up a books page on this site for you all to peruse. Several aspects of the novel are still in flux – the final version of the cover is still with the designer for instance – but it is exhilarating to see everything underway. Once the Amazon page is finalized, I’ll share that information with you all as well. You all have given me so much support as I go through this process of publishing my first novel, and it has meant the absolute world to me. Thank you for everything you all do.

Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Thanks, Lelia! I’m definitely considering other publishing options. Out of curiosity, where do you like to find your books? I’d love to make sure the book is available where people hope to find it!

      1. I prefer electronic because I can adjust the font and my reader isn’t as hard to maneuver as a print book. Epub (or pdf directly from the author) is my choice of format and epubs can be found on Kobo, B&N, Smashwords, and Google Play.

As a former independent bookstore owner, I have a built-in aversion to Amazon when it comes to buying books or even getting them for free 😉

  1. Congratulations and good luck. I self published mine on Amazon last July. It is a great feeling to say “I’m now published” If you went with KDP Select you have to give Amazon exclusive rights to distribute for 90 days. I did. I’m not sure if I would do it again. They do help somewhat with the marketing, but it’s mostly up to you. You have a great website and good following, use it to push your book. If you did not go with KDP, then don’t forget to put your book on Nook (Barnes & Noble) and iBooks (Apple products). Both are free but the process of putting it on their sites are slightly different. There is a ton of instructions and people willing to tell you how to market your book. Some is good and other not so. Word Press has some good areas and Blog sites that help. In any case, I know the thrill and wish you the best.

  2. Reblogged this on M.L.S. Weech and commented:
One of the bloggers I follow, Kristen Twardowski, over at A Writer’s Workshop, is about to publish her novel. I’m so excited for her, I thought to share her announcement with my followers. Please help me in congratulating her for this achievement. It’s scheduled for release Dec. 16.
