Writing Contest: First Crime Novel, $10,000 Prize

I want to share another great upcoming writing contest that I know would be a good fit for several of you.

Minotaur Books and Mystery Writers of America (MWA) are once again holding their First Crime Novel Competition. The contest is open to any writer who has not previously been published and to writers who have only self-published. Entries must be book length (approx. 65,000 words), and the winner will receive a publishing contract with Minotaur Books, an imprint of MacMillan, along with a $10,000 advance. The winner will also be recognized at the Edgar Awards Banquet.

Submissions are due before midnight EST on Monday, December 12, 2016, so if you have a crime manuscript that is already in good shape, now is the time to submit it. If you are interested in learning more, check out the submission guidelines. Author John Keyse-Walker won the 2015 competition for his book Sun, Sand, and Murder, so you can also explore his site to see what type of entries have succeeded in the past.

Best of luck to anyone who enters! (And let me know if you win!)
